Legal Aspects of Code Admin.
To provide detailed knowledge of the non-technical aspects of building & fire code enforcement. Discussion will include vested rights, the public duty doctrine & how to avoid its pitfalls, as well as Washington State case law regarding building permit agencies. Attendees will gain a significant understanding of the actual causes of liability and will learn strategies for how to avoid them. Often overlooked or little know State legislation effecting our work will also be discussed.

WAC W/SBCC Code Review Process
We will cover selected WA State amendments to the Codes including building, residential, fire, mechanical, plumbing, and others. Additionally, we will briefly discuss some of the rationale for major changes, the process to create state amendments to the adopted codes and how to get involved in future Code Development.
