2021 IRC Update w/ Townhouses & Decks This course will cover some of the significant changes from the 2018 (IRC) to the current 2021 IRC. This includes changes to opening protection, safety glazing, thermal barriers, footing requirements, retaining walls, decks, fastener schedule, wall bracing, emergency egress, etc. A large portion of the class will be spent in open discussion regarding enforcement of townhome common walls, decks, and other items changing as part of the new adoption.

2021 IBC – Chapters 3 - 6 TI. w/ 2021 IEBC Requirements. Understanding how the code analysis is performed & shown on the plans will help to quickly identify key code deficiencies that may exist in the design. The code analysis should provide a summary of key life safety elements to be incorporated into the project & to understand the architectural design assumptions made. Topics to be discuss will include occupancy classifications; allowable heights. number of stories & areas; SEE brochure.

2017 ICC A117.1 & 2021 IBC Chapter 11 - Accessibility New Buildings. We will cover the updates & changes to the 2017 ICC A117.1 standard & how they will affect new & existing structures. It also includes a discussion on the accessibility requirements for existing structures undergoing additions, alterations, or change of use. It covers requirements for commercial buildings including features & facilities. some time is spent address specific provisions of ICC A11.109 regarding clear floor spaces.
